Hand woven furniture, UK

Hand woven — and honest about where it can live.

Rattan, cane, seagrass, water hyacinth and bamboo — five different plants that most shops call one thing. We name the material on every listing, and we tell you plainly that 404 of our 414 pieces belong indoors.

Rattan

A climbing palm with a solid stem. Steam-bend it and it stays bent — which is why every frame is made of it.

Cane

Not a separate plant. It is the outer skin of the rattan stem, peeled and woven into the lattice on chair backs and cabinet doors.

Shop cane fronted

Seagrass

A dried marine grass twisted into rope. The toughest thing we sell, and the one to pick for stools and benches.

And ‘wicker’?

Not a material at all — it's the weaving technique. A listing that only says wicker is telling you nothing about what you're buying.

Before you buy

Rattan is not garden furniture.

Search for rattan garden furniture and you'll find thousands of results. Almost none of them are rattan — they're moulded plastic, and for a patio that's the right product. Ours is the real thing, and one wet British winter does visible, unrepairable damage to it. We'd rather lose the sale than have you back in six months.

Made to order & restoration

A chair with a blown seat is not firewood.

We re-cane hand-caned seats hole by hole, replace machine-woven panels in spline, re-bind loose joints and splice cracked poles — including on pieces you didn't buy from us. And we'll make a sideboard to your alcove or a headboard to your bed width. Send photographs and dimensions; we quote within two working days.
