Terms of Service

Terms of service

These terms apply to every order placed on rattanrepublic.com. Please read them before you buy. Placing an order means you accept them.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by HOMART LIMITED ("we", "us"), registered in England and Wales under company number 15257354, registered office 30 Uphall Road, Ilford, England, IG1 2JF, trading as Rattan Republic. Contact: support@homartuk.com, 07868 375682.

2. Using this site

You may use this site to browse and order for your own use or for your business. You may not use it unlawfully, interfere with it, scrape it systematically, or reproduce our photography or text without our written permission.

3. Natural materials and variation

Every piece we sell is hand woven from a natural plant fibre. Colour, grain, weave regularity and weight vary between batches and within a single piece, and natural rattan darkens and mellows with exposure to light. Dimensions are nominal and carry normal production tolerances. Screen colours are not exact. These characteristics are inherent to the material and are not defects.

4. Indoor use

Except where a listing states otherwise, our furniture is for indoor use, which includes a glazed and reasonably heated conservatory or garden room. Damage caused by outdoor use, by prolonged damp, by condensation in an unheated space, or by drying next to a direct heat source is not a manufacturing fault and is not covered by any guarantee. Our indoor only page explains this in full and forms part of these terms.

5. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges are shown separately at checkout before you pay. We take payment when you place your order.

If we discover a material pricing error or that an item is out of stock after you have ordered, we will contact you and offer the choice of confirming at the correct price or cancelling for a full refund. We are not obliged to supply at an incorrect price.

6. When a contract is formed

Your order is an offer to buy. Our order confirmation acknowledges receipt but does not form a contract. A contract is formed when we send a dispatch confirmation, or for made-to-order work when we confirm your specification in writing. If we cannot accept your order we will tell you and refund in full.

7. Made to order and restoration

Made-to-measure, made-to-order and restoration work is produced to your specification. We will confirm dimensions, finish, price and lead time in writing before starting, and we will not start until you have approved them. Because these are made to your specification, the 14-day cancellation right does not apply once work has begun.

Restoration is carried out on your own property, which you send to us at your risk and cost unless we have agreed otherwise. We will tell you before starting if we find that a piece cannot be economically repaired, and we will not proceed beyond the quoted work without your agreement. Restoration is by its nature a repair of something already worn: we cannot guarantee that an old frame will not reveal further faults once work begins.

8. Delivery and risk

Timescales and charges are on our delivery page. Estimated dates are estimates, not guarantees. It is your responsibility to check that large furniture will fit through your doorways, hallway and stairs; where a piece cannot be delivered into the property for access reasons, a failed-delivery charge may apply. Risk passes to you on delivery; ownership passes when we have been paid in full.

9. Cushions, covers and fire safety

Upholstered items, cushion pads, covers and seat pads supplied by us comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 as amended, and carry the required permanent label. Please do not remove that label. If you fit your own fabric or your own cushions to our frames, responsibility for fire-safety compliance of those materials is yours.

10. Guarantees

Guarantee periods are stated on each product page and cover failure in normal indoor domestic use. They do not cover outdoor use, damp damage, accidental damage, commercial use unless agreed in writing, or normal wear such as colour mellowing. Guarantee claims do not affect your statutory rights.

11. Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

If we fail to comply with these terms we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. Where you buy as a business we are not liable for loss of profit, business interruption or loss of opportunity, and our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the price of that order.

12. Events outside our control

We are not liable for delay or failure caused by an event outside our reasonable control. If one occurs we will contact you and may extend timescales; if the delay is substantial you may cancel for a full refund.

13. Your account

If you create an account you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under it.

14. Intellectual property

All content on this site, including the Rattan Republic name and logo, photography, guides and product descriptions, is owned by or licensed to us and protected by copyright and trade mark law.

15. Complaints and governing law

Email support@homartuk.com; we acknowledge within two working days and aim to resolve within ten. If you remain unhappy, contact Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and disputes fall to the courts of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
